Learning how to deal with equipment selection and procurement, learning the basics and managing to catch your first few waves can be a daunting task on your own. Many beginners have friends who surf that show them the ropes. Most people do not have this luxury. Our goal is to teach safe surfing as well as surfing theory.

Oasis provides beginners with all the needed equipment to start surfing: surfboards, leashes, rash-guards, car transportation to the beach, a bilingual and experienced surf instructor who will be with the student during the entire class. Teachers do not take more than two students per class, in order to give them all the attention and security which beginners require. They guide you through the fundamentals of surfing. Beginners start with the basics: paddling, board handling and "right of way", wave selection and board riding as well as sea knowledge.

Classes for beginners are usually taught at playa Carrizalillo or “La Punta”, depending on the wave conditions.

Zicatela is one of the top 10 surf locations in the world. Home of the famous "Mexican Pipeline",  Zicatela is considered the "Meca" of surfing in Mexico, and the most consistent beach break in the whole country. We receive surfers from all over the world, which creates a perfect atmosphere for anybody who wants to become involved in the surfing community. It is in this particular atmosphere that we create Oasis Surf Academy. Our primary goal is to make new surfers not only catch their first wave but to develop a different awareness about the sea and its surroundings.

We Consider surfing as a way of living and thinking. We create a special program of courses related to surf and sea life: ecology, wave forecasting, swimming, yoga and stretching, nutrition for athletes, etc.  Students, athletes as well as beginners may attend any of these courses. 

We strongly recommend beginners to attend our theory classes, where instructors explain the basic rules of surfing, knowledge of wave selection, currents, paddling, wave riding, “right of way” and what to do in case of emergency.

 There are a variety of different plans which you can choose. Below we show an example.

• Boards rental and surf equipment: $20 USD per day
• Boards rental and surf equipment for more than 3 days: $15 per day.

• Swimming lessons $15 USD per class (1 hour 1/2 lesson).
• Yoga and Stretching $10 USD per class (1 hour 1/2 lesson).
• Use a VIDEO CAM to record your improvements. Ask our training staff about this service.
• Spanish lessons-2 hour lesson
• Individual lesson: 1 hour 1/2 $16 USD per class.
• Group lesson: 2 hours $15 USD per class.
